During my community events, one of the most frequently asked questions is “Who Is Physical Therapy For?” For those who have never had the pleasure of attending physical therapy, I understand why this question gets asked.
Years ago (I mean 30+ years ago), physical therapy was for those who were in the hospital or recovering from surgery. As with many field/profession, physical therapy has evolved.
It has taken years of research and clinical experience, but now physical therapists are on the frontline for movement impairments. But, not all physical therapists are the same. There have been numerous subspecialties, such as neurological rehabilitation, cardiac, pediatric, orthopedic, etc. They all have their differences, but they dwindle down to how you move. (Side note: it is important to find a specialist for your needs. Here at Spark Performance, we treat those with musculoskeletal/orthopedic impairments. More specifically, the active adult and athlete).
It is taking time to get the word out to the public on what a physical therapist can do for them.
About Spark Performance and Physiotherapy
The key point is that you do not have to be injured or recovering from surgery to see a physical therapist. In fact, most of our patients wish they would have come at the moment they started feeling the pain and discomfort!
Common conditions we treat here at Spark:

- Anybody that has a fear of movement due to an old or new injury
- Individuals unable to return to their prior weightlifting standards or need help tweaking their technique
- People looking to avoid surgeries, get off medications or are tired of having injections
