A lifelong athlete and coach, Cait has been immersed in the world of sport and training from a young age. At three years old, she picked up her first tennis racquet and never looked back! She played on the junior tennis circuit all through high school achieving a top 50 national ranking. She went on to play tennis for the Scarlet Knights at Rutgers University. After graduation, she continued on to coach tennis at the collegiate level at Stevens Institute of Technology. There, she led the women’s team to their most successful season ever and recruited the top rated men’s class in the history of the school.
In addition to her success on the tennis court, Cait also began a weightlifting program at age twelve. Doing so opened her eyes to how important strength and mobility is in all aspects of life. This experience ignited a desire in her to help others improve their quality of life very early on.
From Trainee to Trainer
Cait’s training journey began in 2014 in a Neptune, New Jersey Work Out World, when the trainer she was working with suggested she get certified and start doing her own training. Despite being active herself, she hadn’t thought about making it a career until that time. She recognized that her own lack of serious injuries throughout her athletic career could be attributed to the foundation of strength she had achieved at a young age. This drove her passion for helping others to realize the importance of taking care of their bodies.
The CrossFit Connection
Soon after becoming certified as a personal trainer, Cait was introduced to CrossFit. This methodology really lit a fire within her to want to help active individuals maximize their potential. It inspired her to see people of all ages showing up every day and putting in hard work to do things that some may not think possible. Her first training job was at a CrossFit gym in State College, Pennsylvania where she wore many hats. She coached group classes, did personal training, and headed up both the programming and administration of the Central PA chapter of the World’s Best Boot Camp. During that time, she also worked as a volunteer assistant to her former high school tennis team as a strength and conditioning coach.
In 2017, Cait lived in Newark, Delaware after her husband’s job relocated him to the area. She wasted no time jumping into the role of CrossFit coach and Personal Trainer at the University of Delaware. While working at the University, she also developed and implemented the “Lift Like a Girl” program. This was designed to introduce women on campus to weightlifting in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Landing in Arizona
After a couple more moves to Illinois and finally Arizona, Cait was more than thrilled for the opportunity to join the team at Spark. She believes that movement is medicine, and her passion for keeping people active and healthy is right in line with Dr. Alexander and Dr. Hightower’s philosophies! She is excited to learn more about the physical therapy realm and how to incorporate that knowledge into her training.
Cait practices what she preaches every day as an avid hiker, mountain biker, CrossFitter, and dog lover. She is excited to bring her vast range of knowledge and experience to the Spark community. Arizona has many great things to offer and Cait is ready to help you tackle them all!
