Why Athletes Should Seek Out Specialized Training

I have news for you…

Your run of the mill gym program is not going to get you ready for your competitive season.  

That free app you downloaded with a workout of the day featuring your favorite athlete is not going to help you break the starting lineup.

You need specialized training!  You need a training program that is unique to you, to your sport and to your performance goals.  Whether your goals include power, endurance, agility or something entirely different, the team at Spark Performance knows you need next level training to perform at the next level!  

Here is what we know about why athletes should seek out specialized training…

Metabolic conditioning is a key performance indicator in building a training program. 

Each sport requires a different level of metabolic conditioning that is unique to the sport and even the athlete’s position.  A track athlete requires a different level of metabolic conditioning and therefore a different training regimen than say a baseball player.  Each sport requires a specific output, therefore the input (ie: training) should also be highly specific.  

Nobody wants to be injured – specialized training can help prevent non-contact injuries.

It is important to strike a balance in training. Which is why it is just as important to seek out a trainer who can help you develop a comprehensive training program that is tailored to you.  How many recruiters do you think you can impress if you are stuck on the bench because of an injury?

It goes without saying (though I will say it anyway for the people in the back), sport specific training improves sport performance! A specialized training program will improve your mental toughness.  Training should be physically and mentally challenging so games and competitions are a walk in the park.  The lessons you can learn from sport specific training will test your limits.  It will give you the confidence to do things you thought you couldn’t.  Which also carries over into other areas of life – what a great investment!
